A Case Study in Graphic Design

NorthernOntario.org is a site about the region of Ontario, Canada north of Parry Sound and includes the Sudbury region, the North Shore of Georgian Bay, Sault Ste Marie, Thunder Bay, the area north of Lake Superior, etc. It consists of several hundred pages with both tourism information and various sections created by local professionals regarding health, pet care, spirituality, and local issues.

It has been online since the autumn of 1999 and has generally been first in the list of Google and Yahoo searches related to "northern ontario" since around 2003.

The client says that the site grew far past their original ideas for the hobby project and seriously requires a major overhaul in both organization and design.

Their questionnaire indicates they are looking for a logo (there has never really been an official one created for the organization) that is clean, easy to read in various print media and over a monitor, and evokes the feeling of the clean out-of-doors.

The person making the final decision regarding the logo and accompanying web graphics says they want trees incorporated into the design. Our own current M Gogh website, and our use of trees, contributed to our being contacted for the update project.

We will be creating 5 general logo designs for NO.org to choose from and will post them here in the coming days.
